Year 6 Transition

At Carisbrooke College, we recognise that the move to secondary school is a huge event in a young person’s life. Throughout our robust transition programme, it is our aim to capture the natural anticipation and excitement that each child feels and provide rewarding and appropriate challenges that allow pupils to feel successful and confident about moving to secondary school.

We have really strong links with primary schools across the Island and stay in touch throughout the year. These close working links with colleagues mean that we can ensure there is continuity and progression for all students as academic and pastoral information is shared between the primary schools and Carisbrooke College. We love coming into primary schools and meeting our new year 7 students and we get very excited when it is time to invite year 6 students to our amazing school for Transition Days in the summer term.

Transition Update: 5 April 2022

Admission packs have now been posted out to everyone in our September 2022 cohort. Please complete the admissions booklet and return it to us as soon as possible. This provides us with lots of important information such as contact details and medical information. There is also a getting to know our new student booklet. Please encourage your child to complete this and return it to us along with the admissions booklet. This, along with the visit I will make to your child in their primary school, will really help me to get to know them quickly and be able to support them through the transition period.

Please do not hesitate to book a telephone appointment with me if you have any queries or concerns at this point. Please contact Miss Keogh on 01983 524651 to arrange an appointment.

Upcoming Dates:

Transition Evening – Thursday 30 June 2022

Transition Days – Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 July 2022

More details about these events will be shared closer to the date.
