Dear VI Form students and parents,
The focus of the Bulletin that I’m sharing with you this week is how parents can support students during their time in VI Form. Every student’s needs will be different, but there are simple steps that parents and carers can take to ensure that all students have the best possible opportunities for success.
I have also shared a document mainly aimed at our Year 13 students (but Year 12’s can certainly start thinking about this if they are considering University) with some really good advice on how to write a Personal Statement. If you are planning to study at University next year – this is something that needs your attention now – the internal deadline for UCAS applications has been set as Friday 11th December – just 10 weeks away.
I am pleased to share a piece of information from Southern Vectis regarding a new bus service that will run for Students travelling from Newport to East Cowes:
From Monday 5th October, Route 65 will operate from Church Litten to East Cowes at 15.45. Students who have been using the number 5 service and have been experiencing difficulties due to limited loadings, can now use this services and this bus will be for students only. Payment via cash or Key card as normal.
If you are experiencing any difficulties getting to or from The Island VI Form via a Southern Vectis service, please inform them directly via their website or social media.
My video briefings are below, please take a few moments to watch.
Finally, parents will have received a letter this week giving details of an additional staff training day which is planned for Friday 16th October (copy is also attached). I can confirm that this staff training will mean that there are no VI Form lessons at the Campus on this day. The Year 12 School Photographs that were planned for Friday 16th October, will now be re-scheduled for later in the year. Our two week half term starts on Monday 19th October and we will return to lessons on Monday 2nd November.
Have a safe weekend.
