25th September 2020

Dear VI Form Students and Parents,

As the weather takes a turn and it definitely starts to feel like Autumn, I hope that all students are now settled in and filling their days productively. Learning to manage your time and prioritise your workload is one of the keys to being successful. If this is proving a challenge; speak to us, we are here to help and all of your teachers will have learnt tricks and tips along the way that they will be happy to share.

Next week we will be welcoming a virtual guest speaker from the University of Southampton, for our Year 13 students who are working on their EPQ (Extended Project Qualification).  Dr. Nash will be delivering a live lesson to the whole group, followed by one-to-one virtual tutorials via a video link. Adapting the way we work and communicate with the wider education community is going to be essential moving forward and we are committed to delivering all of the opportunities to our students that we have in previous years.

Next week will also see the last day that Year 12 students have the opportunity to freely swap subject choices. Please ensure that by Wednesday 30th September you have settled on your options.

Video briefings are below, please take a few minutes to watch. Hopefully the information shared is useful and relevant:

Lastly from me, a couple of dates for your diaries:

Year 12 School Photographs –  Friday 16th October. This will be the last professional school photograph that many students will have taken. Photographs will be taken by Cardwell & Simons and will be available for purchase on-line following the October half term.

Year 13 UCAS deadline – We have set an Internal UCAS deadline of Friday 11th December. Please ensure that students are aware of this and take action sooner rather than later to write their personal statement, organise their information on the UCAS website and arrange their staff reference.

Have a safe weekend,

Dave Mumford
