15th January 2021

Dear Students, Parents & carers,

I hope that you are all safe and well.

We are now one week into remote learning. Remember, if you are experiencing problems, please get in contact with us.

The UCAS deadline has been moved from 15th to the 29th January – so it is still not too late to apply if you are in Year 13/14.  If you are not applying, you need to starting thinking about your next steps e.g. gap year, work, apprenticeship, Art foundation course at VI Form etc. We are here to help whatever your destination.

Year 12 students, you can’t register to apply to UCAS yet, but you can be doing research about courses and universities, going on virtual open days (www.unitasterdays.com) and starting think about your personal statement (further guidance will follow).

Below is a document giving details of a programme called Channel Talent, offering free interactive university online events. Varied and interesting areas are covered and you can register your interest to be kept up to date with upcoming events.

Exams latest: “GCSE and A level pupils could sit mini exams to aid grading”  GCSE and A-level pupils could sit mini exams to aid grading – BBC News. Remember that this is all part of the consultation and not final.  Keep calm, this is likely to be very similar to using past papers that many staff are planning to use anyway.

Please remember to keep in touch with your teachers and your mentor each week, otherwise we have to chase you further to check that you are safe.

Keep calm and stay safe,

Dave Mumford
