Year 10 enjoyed a taster day at The Island VI Form this week. The day gave them a real insight into what their education could look like after GCSEs. They were able to gain a better idea of the range of courses available to them and the entry requirements that they would need to achieve. The Island VI Form was the perfect place to visit to start this process as they offer the widest range of A Level courses on the Island.
Students attended workshops which covered a range of subjects including; Communications, Creative, Humanities; Science/Maths and an Aim High session. They also had a tour of the campus and experienced a taste of the freedom that VI Form students have – being allowed to go off campus for lunch.
The students were a credit to the school and impressed the staff taking the workshops with their level of engagement and maturity. Year 10 have really embraced the opportunity to start thinking about their futures more seriously and the courses that they might like to take in the future.
Mr Mumford, Head of School at The Island VI Form commented that “It was a pleasure to host Medina College Year 10 this week and show them around our VI Form Campus. Their behaviour was excellent and they impressed our staff with their enthusiasm and maturity. My advice to students at this stage is to keep working hard throughout Year 11 and keep your options open. We hope to see you next year!”
