9th October 2020

Dear parents and carers,

October is normally the month in schools where we welcome Year 6 students and their parents/carers in as they are deciding on which Secondary School to choose. We were very excited about this as with so much change and ongoing improvement at Medina, we know we have a great school to show off. Sadly we can’t do the usual methods, so we have produced a film which is on the front page of our website and on Monday evening (12th October) we are running a virtual Q and A session via YouTube, which you will be able to access through our website, to answer questions that have come in from parents and students in year 6. Clearly anyone can view this if they want.

Next Friday we close for our additional training day and thank you to parents/carers for their support in this. Google Classroom and Google Meet are our new ways of running many things and we anticipate a further improvement in our delivery of this once all staff are up to speed on these formats and have been further up-skilled. We really hope you will see the difference.

We are still aiming to avoid having any/many visitors into school and if you can avoid coming in then please do so. With COVID-19 cases nationally rising dramatically and rising locally, be it at a much lower rate, we need to avoid contacts if at all possible. We have a new parents’ evening online video system that is being used next week with Year 7 parents/tutors and we anticipate running all parents’ evenings this way for this school year.

Year 11 trial examinations will not be happening in November as we feel they need more time in lessons learning having lost so much time last year. These are now scheduled for January. More information will follow nearer the time.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mr Parr-Burman
