Careers – Information for Parents/Carers

THE CAREERS TEAM

Mrs Naomi Smy – Named Careers Leader

Miss Tanya Norris – Assistant Careers Leader

The Careers Team at IWEF deliver the Careers Information, Advice and Guidance programme. We aim to enable all students to implement well informed and realistic decisions as well as successfully manage change and transition for their futures. The transition from school to further education can be a challenging time for both students and parents to understand all of the different opportunities. As a College, we are committed to supporting the students to make a smooth transition.

We offer Careers Information, Advice and Guidance programme which is delivered through a variety of Career related activities throughout the year and in different learning styles to suit individual needs.

Here are some examples of the Careers events we host which you will be invited to:

Year 11 Careers Information Evening

This evening is to offer more focused information on higher & further education courses, apprenticeships, traineeships and career opportunities available post 16. For this event, we will have a carousel of exhibitors where parents and students can find out more specific information about the university and any specialist areas/courses of interest.

This evening is an introduction for parents/carers and students to the university college admission’s service. We will provide you with details on how to apply to university, what is involved for you and your child and have a look at university life.

In-depth information is provided regarding the financial side of university life and any help that may be offered. There is a chance to ask questions and speak to members of staff.

Year 11, 12 and 13 Careers Guidance Interviews

We give all our year 11 students a one to one careers guidance interview. Parents/carers are invited so we discuss options and grades and offer guidance to further/higher education. We can also help with applications and give information on all different areas of interest.
