Dear parents and carers,
It does not seem possible that I am writing the penultimate newsletter for this half term! I have been made up by the number of positive on calls that have been given out to our students across all subjects. To qualify for the Positive On-Call Award students need to:
Award winners receive a certificate to bring home and are entered into a weekly prize draw and the lucky winners receive a £5 voucher.
Our virtual parents evening on Wednesday night for year 11 was an opportunity for you as parents to find out how well they have settled into Year 11, address any attendance issues (attendance target is 100%), and any concerns or worries. We ask for your support with making sure they complete homework and have a revision timetable for the mock exams that start week commencing 11th January and run for a whole week. Subject areas will inform students as to which papers are going to be sat. Please feel free to contact tutors if you were unable to attend. The mock exams are vitally important because they will provide strong evidence to teachers, should they need to provide this information in the summer term.
It is also time to think about the next step for Year 11. Our VI Form provision, The Island VI Form, has a wide variety of subject related videos and resources available on the website to help inform decisions about the next academic year. We have the only dedicated VI Form site on the Island, which provides an ideal bridge between school and higher education or employment and gives students more freedom and responsibility. Please do have a look at the subjects on offer, complete the application form and if you have any questions contact us on 522886 or email email@example.com. Friday 18th December is going to be “Festive Federation Day”. School uniform does not need to be worn on this day. To mark the end of term and the start of the festive period all members of or community may come to school dressed in something festive. We do not want anyone to feel pressure around this; it can be as simple as wearing some tinsel in your hair or a pair of Christmas socks!
Well done to the top reward point achievers last week: Year 7 Chloe T, Year 8 Shayonna W, Year 9 Evie S, Year 10 Millie B and in Year 11 Lea- Anna C.
Just to confirm that Friday 18th December is the last day of the term and we reopen to students on Tuesday 5th January.
Have a lovely weekend!
