Trip to the British Basketball Final

On Sunday 15th May, over 40 students attended the British Basketball Final at the O2 Arena to watch the Leicester Riders take on the London Lions.  This was a reward trip for those who have represented the school in basketball this year. It proved to be a great trip and one that all involved thoroughly enjoyed; even if Mr Peake was the only one that was truly happy about Leicester Riders winning!

The students represented the school extremely well and were complimented on their behaviour and attitude by Nigel, the coach driver. Despite getting back close to midnight and having to endure a crossing over the solent in a thunderstorm, they kept the singing going all the way until they reached the car park at Carisbrooke.

Not only did they get to watch the two best teams in Britain challenge each other in a game that went down to the final shot, but they got to do so in the number one basketball arena in the country.

We hope that next year we will see participation in basketball grow even further. Any student wishing to take part is always welcome. Well done to team Carisbrooke and thanks for a great day!
