Dear parents and carers.
This week we had a virtual inspection from the Health and Safety Executive – all related to how we are responding to COVID-19. The inspection was rigorous and very thorough, and the Inspector has indicated that we have passed with flying colours. She indicated our systems were model examples and could be used by others as the way to run things safely. This is incredibly reassuring to know that what we have in place fulfils the exacting demands of the HSE (known as one of the toughest regimes in the world). I would like to thank all the staff who continue to be on top of all we expect of them in order to keep children and adults safe here.
We are having a real push on the positive on calls and it has been great to see that so many students are doing really well in their subjects. Daily positive on calls this week have been massively more than the negative ones. Those who have achieved a positive on call will go into a draw on Monday and the lucky winners will receive a reward voucher.
I would like to share with you how amazing two of our students have been. Macie, in year 10, wanted to put some smiles on faces and bring some cheer, after what has been a lonely year for many residents in the community or care homes that have no family. She is delivering cards and presents to care homes, care providers in the community and to elderly people in hospital over the Christmas period. Superstar Leo in Year 10 has set himself a challenge to run 100k and raise money for the Foodbank to support the charity in being able to support local families during the Christmas Period. Leo has been amazing and is running most days to meet his target. Leo has run about 80k so far so 20k to go this week, we know he can do it! Any runners out there will know that this is no easy challenge!
We had six year 10 students complete virtual training with the police to become Cyber-Bullying Ambassadors for Carisbrooke College. They are now able to deliver this training to the other year groups in school. Congratulations to Ben, Tom, Sam, Poppy, Evie and Amy.
Booking information has been sent out regarding our 11 virtual tutor evening on Wednesday 9th December. This is to make sure that we can help you support your child with revision leading up to the trial exams in January. We will be taking one week to have the trial exams not two as in previous years. This is to make time up to continue teaching more taking into.
Well done to the top reward point achievers last week: Year 7 Molly-Nora (for the second week in a row!), Year 8 Efia, Year 9 Jaelan. We had joint winners in Year 10 Maryam and Josie and top in Year 11 Chloe.
Have a lovely weekend!
