Dear parents and carers,
This is my last blog for 2020. It has been a challenging term for students and staff with all the Covid regulations we have had to put in place. I am so proud at how everyone has adapted and behaved and kept us safe. I cannot quite believe that we have managed to go the whole term without having a case! In light of the government announcement yesterday you will receive a letter from me with further information about the start of term in due course.
I have been so impressed by the number of Headteacher awards that I have given out in the celebration assemblies in recognition of the hard work and excellent attitude of our students in lessons. There were just short of 400 certificates given out across the five year groups.
The Student Council challenged students to design a Carisbrooke College or IWEF face mask. I had the hard job of trying to choose a winner. The creative use of the College’s logo, strap line and motto in some of them was fantastic. Well done everyone and to Mr Thorne who submitted an entry! A list of all the winners along with some pictures of my favourite ones can be seen later in the newsletter.
I have really enjoyed seeing some of the Christmas jumpers and other festive efforts for our “Festive Federation Day”. I would like to thank Michelle and her team in the kitchen for putting on a scrumptious Christmas dinner yesterday.
We unfortunately were unable to hold our Christmas concert this year but hopefully you have had a chance to watch our alternative- the IWEF Virtual Christmas Concert. Students from across the federation worked so hard on their performances. A huge thank you to all the staff from our Music, Music Technology and Art departments who made it happen!
Well done to the top reward point achievers last week: Year 7 Ash M, Year 8-joint winners Kieran A and Efia E, Year 9 Danica H, Year 10 Joshua Cand in Year 11 Callum J.
I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
