16th April 2021

Dear student, parents and carers,

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter break – this week has certainly flown by. It has been a positive start to the last term of this academic year. In the lessons I have visited, the atmosphere has been calm and productive with good learning.

In assemblies this week, I have been reinforcing our expectations in terms of uniform, attendance, behaviour and attitude to learning in lessons. Please can I ask that you continue supporting us with our students being smart.  Students need to look the part, feel the part, act the part. Students need to have high expectations of their personal standards of dress to belong to our school community.

We have thirty school days before year 11 potentially finish their time at Carisbrooke College. They cannot afford to miss any lessons as teachers are using the remaining time to get as much evidence as they can to support their TAGS (teachers Assessed grades).

Thank you to all Year 9 parents/carers who completed the Options forms. The first round of processing is now complete, so any queries we have regarding subjects that students have selected will be followed up by the end of this month. This is a very exciting time for Year 9 as it a key point in their learning journey.

We are very pleased to be able to say that some extra-curricular clubs will be starting next week. These will be run in a COVID-secure way, in line with the procedures that we are working within every day. The staff who are running these clubs are very much looking forward to re-engaging the students in these activities next week.

The LFD testing has been an important part of supporting the schools to reopen to all students. Students will be issued with home test kits next week. Please can I urge you to complete the tests on a Monday and a Thursday and report your result.  The school website has the details of how and who to notify the results to.

Well done to the top reward point achievers in the last week of the Spring term: Year 7 Ocean C, Year 8 Olivia S, Year 9 Freddie B, Year 10 Jessica H and in Year 11 Lewis A.
