Dear students, parents and carers,
We have now completed a full week with all students in school and feedback from staff has been fantastic about how the students have behaved. They have shown great resilience and have been calm, supportive and adapted well to the Covid-19 plan we put in place. Thank you for your ongoing support.
I have been fortunate to be working from home and keeping in touch with all staff. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Ms. Jones who has stepped up in my absence and to all the staff for making the return for students so positive. I am looking forward to being able to meet students in the near future.
It is really important that students feel confident that they are in a safe and secure environment. We are constantly reviewing movement around the school and making sure that we adapt things to do the best we can to keep everyone safe. If you do have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
One question that has been raised a few times is about students coming in to school wearing their PE kit on the days when they have PE. We discussed this in some depth at a senior meeting last night and we believe students should continue to arrive in their uniform. Stability and consistency are really important in these challenging times and uniform assists with this. We do not feel that it is hygienic for students to do PE and stay in the same clothes for the full day.
Year 7 will be completing Cognitive Ability Tests (CATs) starting on 21st September. These are a short series of tests to assess a student’s reasoning (thinking) abilities in key areas that support educational development and academic attainment. We will use this information to better meet their needs in the classroom and help them achieve.
Hope you have a lovely weekend.
