Welcome to the first blog of this half term. This week has certainly flown by. As you can see, we have changed the format of our newsletter and tried to make it more interactive.
I have enjoyed leading the assemblies this week with the year groups. I have focused on our basic expectations in terms of Attitude, Behaviour, Attendance, Punctuality and Uniform.
It is our Year 8 Virtual Parents’ Evening on Thursday next week. It is not too late to make appointments. Please contact Judy Smith if you are having difficulties booking appointments. It is an opportunity to talk to your child’s teachers about their progress and next steps. Communication about the Year 7 Parents’ Evening will be circulated at the end of this month.
We need to make sure we are not complacent and remain vigilant about the spread of the Covid virus. The new variant is still very much in circulation and so good hand and respiratory hygiene remain essential.
We are awaiting the Government’s announcement on Monday 14 June regarding the roadmap out of lockdown. There does seem to be some doubt that it will happen as planned which may well impact on us being able to continue with some of the exciting things we have lined up for this half term.
Our Year 7 Disco on Tuesday 22 June is our first event. We have Year 11 Prom, Federation Games and reward trips in the pipeline, but these rely on the Government continuing with taking the next step out of lockdown on 21 June. We will update you on what we can and cannot do once we have heard the update.
Please can I remind parents that the visitor car park cannot be used before 9.00 am as we are using the space for Year 8 students to line up in the mornings.
I enjoyed my ice cream on Wednesday! Don’t forget the ice cream van will be outside school every Wednesday after school.
Well done to the top reward point achievers for the last week of last half term: Year 7 Oliver S, Year 8 we had joint winners: Twiggy E and Izzy B, Year 9, Ruby B and in Year 10, Isabelle A
Have a lovely weekend.
